Balrath Under 9s celebrate yet another victory this time in Malahide playground after beating the home side 6 - 2 in our penultimate league game of the season.
Balrath started with Lochlann up front in a bid to get him on the scoresheet for the first time this season and it nearly paid off with him having three shots on goal in the first 10 mins and being unlucky not to score. Glen, the only other player who hasn't scored, also got a turn to play striker but it wasn't to be today. In the end it was the usual suspects who scored the goals with top scorers Shane, Jesse Zaki and Ryan all finding the net. Between the four of them they have now scored an incredible 102 of our 118 goals in all competitions this season.
Shane scored with 2 typically cool finishes in the first half and tapped in a 3rd after the break when Jesse's shot rebounded off the post into his path. It was his 10th hat trick of the season and takes his overall tally to 56 with two games to play. Amazing stuff!
Jesse came out of goal in the second half and was desperate to get on the score sheet. It looked like it wasn't going to be his day after two good saves from the keeper and another hitting the post but with a couple of minutes to go Shane slid him in behind the defence and he took his time before smashing the ball home for his 27th of the season.
During the first half Myself and Aido were having a chat about how well Zaki was playing and I had just said how he had scored a couple which were contenders for goal of the season when bang! he struck another one. Sweetly striking a bouncing ball into the corner of the net from distance for his 10th of the season.
And what about Ryan Connor in his first season for Balrath. His speed is phenomenal and today he beat a couple of players in his own half and just raced away. There was no one going to catch him and as the keeper came out he toed the ball past him for his 1st league goal of the season and his 9th in all competitions.
It's not all about goals of course and everybody worked hard and played their part in winning the game. Well done to all the players!
